The Galvez Pentecostal Church had its beginning in tent revivals, brush arbors, and cottage prayer meetings when Reverend Van Hodge brought the Apostolic message to the Galvez community in 1938. The small group of people continued to worship in this way until the first church building was constructed, across the road from our present location. The original house of worship was built in the early 1940s.  On January 29, 1947, the church elected Reverend H.O. Alford as pastor. Under his ministry, another building was erected and growth followed under his leadership. Reverend Alford resigned in 1958. Many great men of God followed over the years to help build a solid foundation on which our church is built today. Reverend & Mrs. Alan Spence built our current facility in 1998. 

Our pastor, Reverend David Hairford, and his wife Kim, along with their two daughters, answered the call of God to the Galvez community on October 21, 2018. Under their ministry, the church has continued to grow and prosper as we move forward to reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

We feel a deep gratitude for the effort of those who have gone before us, ministers and saints, both living and deceased. All of them have laid the foundation for the present church family to build upon, to help make Galvez Pentecostal Church what it is today. We look forward to the future of GPC with great excitement and expectation of what God is going to do. We are a church committed to having an impact on Ascension Parish and the entire Baton Rouge metroplex until Jesus comes.
